Monday, 31 October 2011

Professor Adrian Mouritz from RMIT University, a long-standing research collaborator with CRC-ACS, has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (ScD) from the University of Cambridge. The ScD is the highest degree awarded by the University for Distinction in scientific research. According to the University, ScD recipients are internationally acclaimed scientists who submit a collection of the publications that best illustrate their achievements over their career in scientific research.

Professor Mouritz’s knowledge and experience has allowed him to publish nearly 200 research articles on composites; which include 2 books, 2 edited books, 8 book chapters, 100 journal papers and 80 conference articles.

Professor Mouritz was awarded the ScD for his published research work in damage tolerant composite materials. The research included studies into the fire structural properties of composites; damage tolerant composites with through-thickness reinforcement (e.g. stitches, z-pins); and impact and blast loading of composites.
